As the dawn breaks, clad in orange robes, they head out from a monastery in Khagrachhari to receive food from villagers. They walk in single file, oldest first, carrying alms bowls in front of them. Around 308 Buddhists are taking part in the ritual for 10 days from March 22, as part of their initiation into Sramana (one who toils or exerts himself for higher or religious purposes). During the period, they are staying at Aranya Kuthir in Panchhari upazila. The photo was taken on Tuesday.
